Accessibility Statement

We want all customers – whether rangers, wizards, or hobbits – to easily explore our online shop. That’s why we’re constantly working to make our site more accessible.

Scope

This accessibility statement applies to our website www.elbenwald.com and all associated subpages and services.

Current Accessibility Status

This website is not fully accessible according to our current technical standards and reasonable effort.
Implementation is being carried out step by step based on the requirements of the BITV 2.0 and the WCAG 2.1 at compliance level AA.
Below are all currently known deviations:

  • Alternative texts
    • Images and graphical controls without clear or complete alt texts
    • Alt and title attributes with identical content instead of complementary information
  • SVG and icon elements
    • SVG graphics without role attributes and missing descriptions
    • Icon buttons without visible or programmatically accessible labels
    • Non-functional icons are not hidden from assistive technology
  • ARIA and ID attributes
    • Outdated or incorrect ARIA attributes in use
    • Missing aria-labelledby references due to absent IDs
    • Duplicate IDs in some elements
  • Navigation and embedded content
    • Navigation elements without descriptive names or roles
    • iframe elements without a title attribute
    • Interactive elements partially do not convey their purpose or state
  • Keyboard accessibility
    • Poor usability via keyboard in menus and scrollable areas
  • Text and layout adjustments
    • Contrast ratios below WCAG standard (text: under 4.5:1, large text: under 3:1)
    • Some text is generally too small for comfortable reading
    • 200% text zoom causes clipped content and layout breaks
    • Text in images often too small on mobile and not zoomable
    • Missing H1 headings or inconsistent heading hierarchy
  • Forms
    • Form fields without clear labels or descriptions
  • Documents
    • Some PDF downloads are not accessible

Planned Improvements

The following requirements are currently being implemented:

  • Adding and reviewing all image alt texts
  • Introducing ARIA roles and landmarks for interactive elements
  • Optimizing keyboard navigation including focus indicators
  • Adjusting color contrasts in accordance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA
  • Replacing text in images with HTML text for scalability
  • Training our team on accessible design
