Thorsberg trousers are early medieval legwear found during archaeological excavations in the Thorsberg Moor. The site in the Thorsberg Moor is believed to have been a cult site of the god Donar/Thor in the settlement area of the Germanic tribe of the Angles, according to the prevailing scholarly opinion. Most of the finds date from the 3rd and 4th centuries.
The Thorsberg pants are thus a garment clearly associated with the Germanic habitat and therefore a must for an authentic Germanic or Viking garb.
The excavated pieces have a cut considered to be typical of the style of early medieval men's legwear in Europe and can be archaeologically proven in a similar form for centuries after the creation of the Thorsberg specimens. For example, trousers based on this basic pattern can still be found in illustrations of Passio Kiliani as well as among the specimens from Haithabu, which date from the 11th century.
